and that means uninterrupted work on the house. woot!
Nick will be getting the house ready for an electrician to come first thing next week and I will hopefully be working on a little side project. You see currently the washer and dryer reside in the kitchen, but on opposite sides of the room. We plan to remedy that by purchasing a stackable set and will put them in the washers current location.
To be able to do this Nick had to remove the cabinet above the washer. Considering this house was built in the 1940's and that we believe the cabinets are original, Nick wasn't able to just unscrew it from the wall. Oh no, he had to pry that sucker off. It was nailed into the concrete wall. He used a crowbar and mallet to get the job done.
He was able to get it off in almost one piece, the back did come off in the process. But look how awesome that cabinet is. This is where the side project I was talking about earlier comes into play. I have big plans for this cabinet and I love that I will be re-purposing it instead of just throwing it out. I'm pretty sure Nick thinks I'm crazy, but I'm so excited to get started.
What about you, have you been able to give new life to an old item?
